Maverick Vinales confirms his great pace showed during the morning and conquers the second session of free practice at COTA, ahead of Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi.

The two Yamahas seem to be really strong in America and Maverick is the only rider alongside Marquez to ride under the 2.04; between him and the World Champions there are just 44 thousandths, at the end of a session who was more like a short qualifying, as long as rain chances tomorrow are high.

Third place so for Valentino Rossi, who is one tenth of a second slower than his teammate, followed by Jack Miller, first of the Ducatis.

Cal Crutchlow and Alex Rins end in 5th and 6th with a secure spot in Q2 for the moment, while Pol Espagaro is 7th with his KTM.

8th and 9th position for the Yamaha Petronas of Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo, with Francesco Bagnaia getting the last place for the direct access to Q2; that means we have actually Dovizioso and Petrucci out of last qualifying.
