Marcel Schrotter conquers the first session of free practice of Moto2 in Austin after a red flag due to a crash; Xavi Cardelus lost the control of his bike during the last minutes of the session and he falled down and he was taken away in ambulance.

By the way, the German was the only rider on track able to perform a lap under the 2.11, being faster than everyone; the second one, his teammate Tom Luthi, is far five tenths of a second from the top.

Third place for Jorge Navarro, just 0.063 slower than the Swiss, followed by Luca Marini and Sam Lowes, who are seven tenths of a second slower than the best performance.

Alex Marquez ended in 6th with a lap of 2.11.592, ahead of Termas podium finisher Remy Gardner.
