First session of free practice saw Marc Marquez leading the package; the Spaniard is the main candidate for the victory this weekend, as long as he was the only rider on track able to win in Austin since 2013 in MotoGP.

Behind him we have a fast Maverick Vinales, who had a great FP1 and just 0.078s slower than the best performance; Yamaha rider is followed by Jack Miller and Andrea Dovizioso, with Andrea who had some troubles with his first bike and he had to stop in the middle of the session.

Ducati riders are also the last one able to do a lap under the 2.06; Valentino Rossi ended in 5th and he is the first rider with a lap over the 2.06 and he is seven senths slower than Marquez.

Sixth position for Pol Espargaro, ahead of Fabio Quartararo and Cal Crutchlow, who are, alongside with the Spaniard, the first guys with a gap of over a second.

Top 10 is closed by Aleix Espargaro and Andrea Iannone.
