Rossi's perfect weekend in Ohio
Alexander Rossi capped of a perfect weekend with a dominant win in Mid-Ohio
Alexander Rossi seems like he should have won three or four races by this point in the season. But before Mid-Ohio he had only seen the checkard flag once in Long Beach. In a season where he is slowly but surley turning into sort of the villan of IndyCar with his aggressive drive to win.
But Rossi without a doubt has not been short on speed this season. Along with the win in Long Beach, he has finished on podium five times and had some spectacular drives like in Phoenix, Arizona when he drove through the entire field a lap down and managed to finsh third.
This weekend for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio he was the car to beat. Rossi qualified on pole and would lead early on. Pit Stops on laps 29 and 59 would be the winning strategy as in the final 31 laps, Robert Wickens would be leading but have to pit for fuel handing Rossi the lead and eventually the win. He crossed the finsh line by 12 seconds over second place Wickens. This win moved Rossi up to second in points only 46 back from leader Scott Dixon and 14 points ahead of third place, Josef Newgarden.
Second place finisher Robert Wickens continues to impress with his amazing speed and string of 7 top five finshes of the 13 races, with this season still only being his rookie season after coming to the U.S. from running sports cars in Europe. A win is just around the corner for Robert Wickens this season.
Third place was battle between the Team Penske duo that have at each others heels all season, Will Power and Josef Newgarden. Newgarden showed a little more of his not backing off of team mates mentality and gave little room to Power going into what they call the keyhole at Mid-Ohio and passed Power. Power came back and managed to finish on the final podium spot.
