Russian GP | Sirotkin: "I want to forget this race"
Sergey Sirotkin about his first Sochi race.
The Russian driver Sergey Sirotkin finished in his first Russian Grand Prix on the last place. According to the driver, the team spent a strong weekend in Sochi, but could not confirm its success in the Sunday race. Sergey told, that for him the race ended already in Turn 2, when he was between Renault and Sauber.
"It was a difficult race. Actually, in the terms of team work it was one of the decent races. I made the good start and, unfortunately, after it I was trapped between Renault and Sauber. I lost everything I got at the start, and also lost at least three more positions. It had a negative effect on the rest of the race. However, after two or three laps I was able to take the situation under the control. I was ready to overtake my teammate, and I can say I already overtook him. But at that time, as I understand it, he a little slowed down, and I was taken off the track in Turn 13", - said Sirotkin.
"The most offensive that in this fight I strongly spoiled the tyres, and couldn’t go to a pit stop, as it was the Stroll’s turn. From that moment my race was over. There is no chance to overtake on such a track and with a car like ours. In some moments I was closed to a potential fight, but it didn’t come to real attacks, unfortunately. So, I was just trying to finish the race”.
