Sergio Perez wrapped up today’s FP2 in Singapore in P11, over 2 seconds far from the top. Force India introduced a significant package of aerodynamic updates, including a new front wing, a rear wing, new floor and bargeboards but the Mexican feels the team needs to put in more work, in order to keep its Q3 hopes alive.

Saturday is very important, let’s see how we can improve on our balance. We ran our new updates today, which changed the car quite heavily. We are coming from Spa and Monza, with low downforce, to a maximum level of downforce, so it is difficult to compare. However, I think we will have to improve significantly to make it to Q3.”

"We hope to repeat the good results we have always had in Singapore, where we collected important points." Perez continued.

Asked about Vettel's FP2 setback, Perez pointed out that '90% of the result depends on tomorrow' so the German can still build his final result from scratch without any major impact from today's incident
