All eyes and questions were on the home hero Lewis Hamilton, who is hoping to achieve the sixth consecutive win in his home Grand Prix.

It’s the same feeling every year, it’s the most special GP on the calendar for me. Looking at last year’s pic and videos, it’s a wonderful feeling.” Said the four-time world champion, who has to deal with the ghosts from the Austrian double DNF.

Last weekend was difficult; we hoped for a different end. It happens and when it happens makes the team stronger and united. We worked immediately after the race, we analysed the car and tested a new solution. We made everything to avoid things like this in the future.”

Sebastian Vettel is now just one point ahead of him in the Championship and the fight for the title is getting harder and harder every weekend.

I think it’s impossible to know how the season will go.” Continued Lewis. “The team reacts very well to situations like this; we upgraded the car and my feelings with it grows too. I think we’ll improve more. The season had had its ups and downs, there’s so much pressure on this fight for the championship. I think we are the best team and we’ll continue to be.”

Mercedes is the best team according to Lewis, but they hit troubles in Austria and team radios showed that there were some mistakes with the strategies. When asked about it, Hamilton said: “Every team has lost some points thanks to wrong strategies. Datas and simulations makes it all difficult. I don’t know what’s going to happen from now on, but I know I have the best strategists, and I can say it seeing how many victories we’ve achieved together.”

We’re humans, everyone in the team will always be worried about reliability. As a sport man I can’t think about it: I hope I can trust my car and I hope the team will too.”

I hope to fight for the win here at home for the sixth time straight. The atmosphere Is incredible all weekend long.”

If Hamilton has to deal with some worries, Max Verstappen is still enjoying the victory feeling from the last GP, which was his team home race. Verstappen ended a bad period with a great result, which was unexpected for him.

The victory was unexpected, after such a non-promising Friday and Saturday. The set up was better on Sunday, plus Mercedes hit troubles, we pitted earlier, and the safety car helped. I’m happy. Every win is wonderful, but this was unexpected and so special.

Red Bull is still growing and, on some circuits, can fight for more than the third place. The RB14 weakness?  The straights.

If the straights are long, we’re third. With less straights we’re faster. Austria was not our track so this makes it more special.” Silverstone has some iconic turns, but maybe this won’t be enough for the bulls. “Some high speed corners in Silverstone are like straights, cause you do them full throttle. We’ll be there and we’ll see what happens during the race.”

Red Bull sometimes tends to blame the Power Unit for their poor results, but next year they’ll start a new journey with Honda. Max Verstappen is tied to the team until 2020 and will be part of this new partnership.

Has the team asked him what he thinks about it?

The team talked with me about the Honda move, but it was their own decision.” He simply said.

Last, but not the least, shining star Charles Leclerc faced the media, talking about how much is feeling is growing every weekend more with his Sauber and the entire team.

The confidence is not so high, I made some mistake in France and Austria, but we made it to Q2 for six time. Silverstone is going to be difficult thanks to its high speed corners.”

My first three GPs were difficult, but Baku has been different for the set up. I knew what to ask to my engineers and I want to keep working and get better. It was easier to feel the limits.” Continued the Monegasque.

It’s great to see how hard the team works and the result we achieve. We don’t even have massive upgrades, but the smallest things make us do a step forward.”

Charles future will obviously be bright and the twenty years old is only focusing on this season: “We’ll see what the possibilities will be next year.”

Silverstone will be the last race with the special Pirelli tyres, but the drivers confirms once again that they don’t feel the difference.

Also, the race direction added a new DRS zone in the first turn. Will the drivers use it in quali?

I doubt it, but we’ll try.” Said Hamilton. “The asphalt is disconnected and slippery, so it will be difficult.”
