Sergio “Checo” Perez set the fourth fastest in Silverstone today with a 1:40.251 behind immediate championship competitor Ferrari´s Charles Leclerc and ahead of local hero Lewis Hamilton. Perez is running second in the driver’s championship with 129 points, three points ahead of the Monegasque and 46 behind teammate Max Verstappen who will start from second place.

The Monaco GP winner, who could not repeat the second place from the FP3, told the media, including MotorLat, after the session:

“Definitely there was more in today. It wasn´t ideal at the end I had a tow right behind me in the final two laps and it wasn´t ideal but, still, I think P4 is not the end of the world. I think we can fight from there as long as we have a competitive car tomorrow, I think we should be able to make good progress.”

Consulted over an issue that hampered the performance today “we found the issue and hopefully it should be straightforward for tomorrow. “

Drivers could not get too much running during Friday´s session asked over this Checo explained “We all have very little running. So, we should be able to get a good race pace and hopefully we are in the fight for tomorrow. “

The feeling the 32-year-old had today changed from yesterday’s after complaining his car was miles off on Friday.

"It was different to what I had yesterday but it shouldn´t be the end of the world, it should be easy to get up to speed and I think as long as we have a good strategy…”

Further asked on the above-mentioned issue he said: “It was an aerodynamic issue with the car.”

Questioned if the team had put a new part he said: “No, it was with the feeling of the part how they were fitted.”
