Alpine saw a massive improvement compared to yesterday Practice session, and is happy with that, despite the ending of qualifying under red flag compromised their performance. Eseteban Ocon will start P10 tomorrow’s race.

Esteban Ocon, who was interviewed after the session said: “In Monaco it's nice to have a perfect qualifying; in the end it was not perfect but we are pleased that we improved the car from the first practice session to qualifying, because we had no pace and not feeling comfortable; the car was all over the place. In qualifying we managed to get something very competitive.

"It’s a shame I’ve done my first lap on used tyres, because I was on for P6 or P7, so I was on fot a very good lap, but that’s racing and that’s Monaco. Hopefully tomorrow it will rain and it brings a bit of a spectacle for everyone.”

Alpine seems to have worked during the night, in order to improve the set-up of the car to have a good Saturday in Montecarlo: “I was P4 in q1 and P6 in q2, so I I’m happy for how the car was performing in qualifying. It's just a bit of a shame for the end.

"We changed all the set-ups we could overnight. I was slower yesterday, I was a second and a half slower, so it’s good we turned it around.”

Ocon admits that maybe, the choice of going out so late during Q3, was not the best: “I think we have some things to review as Charles [Leclerc] was already out of the car having a drink while we were still on track. We probably could have planned that better than we did.”
