Williams has been one of the teams that looked like it was going to come back from its poor 2021 season, however, the British team is having a harder time than they thought. The team led by Jost Capito is in last position in the constructors' championship with a total of 3 points, all of which were obtained by Alex Albon. The British-Thai driver managed to position himself within the top 10 in the free practice sessions during the last Miami Grand Prix, everything seemed to indicate that the FW44 had been properly conditioned with the characteristics of this new Miami International Autodrome, however, during qualifying session, a tyre temperature issue was the deciding factor for the Williams driver to finish the session in P18. However, in the race, Albon managed a total of 2 points thanks to his tenth position and a place gained by a penalty to Fernando Alonso. As we can see, the qualifying sessions are the biggest problem Williams has. In this regard, the team principal, Jost Capito, has shown his ambition to solve these problems so that the team shows the true potential of its car.

“It's hard to score points when you qualify P18 and P19. You need some luck for something to happen in front of you. But still, the racing speed and racing performance of the car is really good.” Jost Capito commented as reported by motorsport.com. “Alex [Albon] once again had an outstanding race [in Miami], he is a fantastic race car driver and he can show it. And he shows the potential of the car, that you can go as fast as midfield cars in racing speed, we just have to sort out qualifying, and get that best result.”

“In a race like Miami, you know things can happen and you just have to stay out of trouble. I think it's very difficult for drivers not to push too hard but also not to be too relaxed and be there when needed and Alex is brilliant at that.”

Similarly, Jost commented that one of the main problems Williams has had with both of its drivers (besides qualifying) is tyre management, as a miscalculation during the Miami Grand Prix resulted in in a dismal result for the Thai British driver.

“The track temperature was five degrees higher than when we had been on the track before, so we felt we had to treat the tyres a bit differently to warm them up. Everyone was very disappointed after qualifying because if you're in the top 10 in free practice and then you're 10 places back in qualifying, it's disappointing for the whole team.

“Time to catch up a bit. Now we are in a pretty good position, and coming back from Miami, where it is difficult not to damage anything, without damage and with points, it was more than we expected.” That was how the Williams team principal ended. It will undoubtedly be a season to fight to get out of last place in the constructors’ championship.
