If we had to identify the main pain point of Red Bull, it would definitely be the lack of reliability of their power unit.

While Verstappen has won the three races he has finished in 2022 - Saudi Arabia, Imola and Miami -, his chances of reaching the podium were shuttered due to mechanical issues in Bahrain and Australia. This has resulted in a 19-point deficit in the drivers’ standings to Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

The race-winning weekend at the inaugural race at the Miami International Autodrome was also affected by early setback with hydraulics issues on Friday, which threatened to reduce his chances of victory.

The current world champion has called on Red Bull to continue to focus on the reliability issues that have hampered their 2022 championship campaign.

Verstappen's Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, also suffered a sensor issue partway through the race en route to fourth place, hampering his efforts to take the final podium position.

Speaking after the race in Miami, Verstappen reiterated multiple times his hope for the team to solve the technical dramas that could falter a championship challenge.

"We're still having a few issues that we have to solve," Verstappen told the press.

"We are quick but, as you could see, my Friday was terrible, which is not great if you want to have a good weekend.

"Also Checo [Perez] had a few issues in the race, so we have to be on top of that," he continued.

"Clearly there is a lot of potential, and we just need to make sure it's reliable”
