F1 | Miami GP | Norris annoyed by a mistake that 'cost me two positions' in Miami GP qualifying
McLaren’s driver was not fully satisfied with how qualifying went on Saturday’s evening in Miami.
After a solid start of the weekend, McLaren has had a mixed qualifying session in the new Miami International Autodrome.
On Friday, during the first practice sessions, both drivers managed a good haul of laps as they tested out some small upgrades, with Norris impressing in FP2 between red flags.
However, the excitement had an abrupt end after Saturday’s qualifying session. Lando Norris ended up in eight place.
“It was very tricky to get a lap together. I made a mistake in the final lap and it’s hard cause a small mistake cost me a couple of tenths which means two positions”
The British driver had contrasting emotions after a difficult evening. Although disappointed with his final position, he also felt that the car was not at its best and couldn’t have achieved much more.

"I'm happy with that. I think we're in a decent position, and I don't think we could have achieved much more.
“The car wasn't quite where we wanted to be, and I don't feel like I got everything out of it, which made it a difficult session to drive, but I think today was tricky for everyone.
“So, I'm not the happiest, but it could have been a lot worse."
Asked about the race, Norris didn’t seem too negative. The new track is an unknown variable for every team which will make things more interesting.
“We’ll see for tomorrow. It is a bit of an unexplored territory for the race so we’ll see how it goes. Much will depend on tyre degradation and how the track is going to change throughout the race,” he commented.
