It's a Ferrari 1-2 after the first ever F1 qualifying session held at Miami, and a strong comeback session for Carlos Sainz, who will start from the first row after his qualifying issues in both Imola and Australia.

The Spaniard was extremely satisfied with his performance, especially after the many difficulties encountered yesterday, suffering from a spin and puncture in FP1 and crashing into the wall in FP2.

"Just building a bit from a pretty heavy crash yesterday, wasn't easy at all to get my confidence back in such a difficult circuit like this new one in Miami but I kept it cool," said Sainz in the post session interview.

In spite of not being on pole, the Ferrari driver, twice on the podium in 2022, was still pleased by his front row, especially having obtained it after so many issues on a completely new and "difficult" track

"And in Q3 I think I pulled out a couple of good laps, not quite enough for pole position but giving from where I was coming from yesterday, I will take it."

However, it won't be an easy race for Sainz, as he was unable to complete race simulations on Friday and is going into the race without actually knowing how his car will behave.

"Tomorrow, it is going to be an interesting day, I think, with everything that is going on this weekend.

The driver, who has recently extended his contract with Ferrari, is still quite hopeful for the race, even while considering the importance of the practice time he unfortunately had to miss on earlier in the weekend.

"I haven't done any long runs yet, I haven't put the fuel on the car and tried it so tomorrow at last it would be the first time to have a feeling, which could be quite challenging."

"But at the same time I'm feeling confident with the car, it is really good to drive around here, so I think we can do a great job," he concluded on a more positive note.
