As of right now, Aston Martin is the only team on the grid that has not yet scored a single point. After the great performance of Alex Albon in Australia, by scoring one point, Williams left the team from Silverstone behind and at the very back of the championship standings, all alone.

Aston Martin has been going through a lot the past years, from the takeover by Lawrence Stroll and transformation to Aston from Racing Point, expansion of the team and the build of their new factory, as well as the departure of Otmar Szafnauer from the position of team principal.

The new team principal of Aston Mike Krack admitted he knew his job will definitely be difficult before he even started. As he said in a recent media session with MotorLAT and other selected media: "I had a lot of questions when I was approached for this position, and when I got the answers for these questions, I knew that this was going to be a big challenge. It would have been easy to run away from it. So I was never going to expect that it was easy.

“I have to say the first three races were not easy, really. I mean, at the end of the day, F1 is F1, it's hard. You have to have a quick car, you have to make no mistakes, you have to have good drivers.

“So the whole thing is not together at the moment. We have to really work hard to get there. There's no magic at the end of the day.

With his new position, Krack says he is still learning his way around the team. The departure of Szafnauer in January and Krack’s arrival in the team in March left a relatively short period of time to adjust due to the busy nature of the start of the season: "You clearly need to identify who works on which process, who is doing what. Obviously when you are way racing you have a little bit less of an insight than you would have if you have, for example, a three-months period at the factory to start with.

“I think it's six weeks or seven weeks by now. But it's up to me to take the necessary steps to talk to the most people, try to identify where we are, what we have to improve and move on. Again, I'm not the kind of guy that looks for excuses here."

Aston recently acquired their new technical director - Dan Fallows, who previously worked at Red Bull Racing. Krack believes having a figure like him will definitely be good for the team. As he said: “We have another new recruit with Dan, you are probably aware, so we'll have to sit together and identify clearly how we develop the car, how we develop the performance, and how do we develop the structure of the team?

“To identify a weakness, I think it's clearly the performance of the car, and how we have to improve that is something that we will need to look in the next weeks again.”
