F1 is back in Australia after three years. F1 hasn´t returned there since the so famous cancellation in 2020 when Covid-19 pandemic hit the hardest around the world. Albert Park is a classic and among the drivers there´s someone who is very happy to come back, Daniel Ricciardo.

It´s been a difficult season for McLaren so far. However, Ricciardo, who suffered from Covid earlier this year, keeps the spirits high on the eve of his home Grand Prix. “I´m excited to go home” said the Aussie; “It´s been a while.”

Australian Fans are also looking forward to the weekend and the local hero is expecting a great atmosphere “I´ve heard sales have been nuts and it´s going to be an awesome atmosphere so I cannot wait…it´s personal to me because I´m Aussie and it´s a home one and that´s privilege.”

The drivers will meet a different Albert Park, now with 14 corners and modifications to improve racing. Ricciardo, who was consulted on the changes explained it will improve the spectacle on the race day and give the drivers more opportunities to overtake “We´ve really tried to exploit some areas to allow more slipstreaming, to allow more chances for overtaking under braking. So, I think it´s going to be a different spectacle,” he added.  The purpose of his input was “to make Sunday better.”

Given the fact that the 2022 changes seem to allow drivers more following than in previous years Daniel expects that the changes made to the tight and narrow Albert Park will “make an amazing spectacle.”
