F1 | Alfa Romeo unveils livery for C42
Formula 1 2022 grid is almost complete: Alfa Romeo just introduced their new single seater, the C42
After the pre-season tests in Barcelona, the 2022 F1 grid was almost complete. The drivers showed up and had the chance to try out their new cars and the teams have – almost all of them – introduced their single seaters, the ones they have been working on for two years.
Now it’s Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen’s turn. The Italian-Swiss team is very proud to unveil their C42. Will it be a racing one?
Valtteri Bottas’ and Guanyu Zhou’s single seater is not a news for the track. It has, indeed, already been on the track for the whole three days in Barcelona. But it always wore a camouflage on itself. The new C42 showed up its full livery.
C42 still has its traditional colours on, dark red and white on its body but the news is a majority of red in its design: just like the classic Alfa Romeo, the typical brand colour which in the recent years has been lost in too much white.
The major part of this particular tone is to be seen on the nose, the bulkhead and the halo.
Also the engine cover is red, in 2022. And it can count on the addition of the brand’s name, “Alfa Romeo”, of course, in a good-looking, old-fashioned font.

The livery has been created in the design centre of Alfa Romeo’s Centro Stile, and they look happy of the result. They defined it “a stunning yet subtle nod to the past, recalling historical designs of years past and the heritage of Alfa Romeo and Sauber Motorsport, in the Hinwil team’s 30th year in Formula 1.”
The team principal, Frederic Vasseur trusts C42 to gain some great results along this year.
“The start of the season is always an exciting time, one in which we see the fruit of the work of hundreds of people over a long period of time, - he states.
“The C42 is a car we look forward to seeing racing, not just because it is the first we built in this new regulations cycle, one in which racing should be closer and more thrilling, but because we have the utmost confidence in this car helping the team make a big step forward towards the front of the grid.”
The two new drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou echo their boss’s satisfaction.
“I love it”- Bottas immediately tweeted after the C42 reveal. He talked about the feeling of driving in in Barcelona.
“The size of the team is quite a bit smaller, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing, and at least so far I’ve been enjoying it.”
“There are so many new people and new things to get used to and learn, and still I would say I am in the adaptation phase of actually getting properly to know the team and how everything works. But that’s part of learning.
“I would say it’s been a pretty quick process getting used to it- he continued. - But there are good vibes. I’ve been really, really enjoying it, and with a bit more track time, I would be even happier, but at least it’s been fun.”
