F1 | Alpine CEO Rossi: "Alpine is entering a new era, discovering new business ideas, a new economy"
Laurent Rossi, Alpine CEO, opened up about Alpine's past, new management and views for the 2022 season.
Enthusiasm and high expectations for Laurent Rossi with the new A522, the car with which Alpine will face the next 2022 Formula 1 world championship.
In an interview published on the platforms of the French team, the CEO of the former Renault did not hide its expectations for the new championship, specifying how the team is ready to take advantage of the uncertainty dictated by the new technical regulations.
He opened up about last season and he explained how it was challenging and a bit uncertain, also because it was his first one in F1, but he said he's happy with the results they managed to bring home.
“Last year it was a challenging season, it was a season of learning, for me first because it was my first year in F1, and for the team as well, because there were a lot of things we nedeed to improve operationally, on the track, with the drivers.
“We learned a lot, we put that together and we ended up doing 20 races out of 22, we really made progress and this gave us the 5th position in the Championship, so we also learned to win which is quite important.
“It was definitely an exciting year, but only the beginning.”

“It’s going to be an exciting year, because the new regulations are going to reshuffle the cards, everyone will have a chance, and also the financial regulations are going to make sure that everyone will have the same chances.
“I’m really looking foward to this season, to seeing if what we put together last year, in addition to the new organization, will deliver the very ambitious project that we have, to get back on the podium and to win.
What is about to begin will be a season full of expectations for the French team which over the winter faced a managerial revolution with the departure of Alain Prost and Marcin Budkowski and the entry of Otmar Szafnauer into the team.
“Otmar is going to join us as Team Principal, he’s going to bring with him his technical expertise, but he’s also gonna bring his leadership. He’s been very successful in the past with Racing Point and the other teams, so I think he’ll bring important values, because he’s also a team builder.
“Beyond that we have another new entry, Bruno Famin, who has a very wide experience in motorsports, as well as working with engineers and other industry experts, because of his experience with FIA.
The A522 retains Alpine's stunning blue livery, now paired with BWT's iconic pink, following the recent announcement that it will be the team's title sponsor for 2022.
A collaboration that will influence the team in multiple ways, as explained by Rossi:
“Partners are essential to any team, but BWT is really bringing a lot to us. They’ve been in the circus for a while now, they know F1 very well, so it’s alwayes good to have partners you can rely on under many aspects.
“They are going to bring their views and help in many areas, on the technical side, on the political side […] It’s a partner that’s going to bring us way more than just a name.
“Alpine is entering a new era, because we’re not sticking to our traditional partnters, we’re entering new worlds, discovering new business ideas, a new economy.”
