F1 | Ferrari fires up its F1-75 for the first time
Ferrari are the latest team to fire up their 2022 car.
Ferrari have become the latest team to post audio of them firing up their 2022 challenger. They did it for the first time earlier today.
The Maranello-based team heads into 2022 on the back of a promising 2021 as Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz proved to be very close on pace and worked extremely well together.
After a disastrous 2020, they finished a solid P3 in the Constructors’ Championship, overhauling McLaren late in the season.
The team and tifosi will be hopeful of mounting a challenge for the 2022 titles, 15 years on from their last Drivers’ Championship with Kimi Räikkönen.
“This afternoon in the heart of the Gestione Sportiva, shortly after 5pm, the F1-75 which Scuderia Ferrari will race in the 2022 Formula 1 season, was fired up for the first time,” said Ferrari on their official website.
“Overseeing proceedings was Team Principal Mattia Binotto and just a small number of essential personnel, because of the measures in place relating to Covid-19. The rest of the staff watched via computers and screens in the various departments. For around 30 seconds, the sound of the 066/7 power unit rang out in the vehicle assembly area.”
“This is a very special moment, more so than at similar occasions in previous years,” said Binotto. “The F1-75 is a completely new car and is the culmination of a journey we all started together a few years back, working as a united and determined team.”
