F1 | Schumacher: 2022 rules "will change the driving style a lot"
Mick Schumacher will be with Ferrari as their reserve driver. Alongside, he will keep his full-time role in Haas for the 2022 season. Nevertheless, he will not let this news to distract himself from his main goal.
Associating the words “Schumacher” and “Ferrari” again in 2022 will feel incredible, even if the setting will be completely different than the epic one we all remember.
The young Schumacher has had the chance to become Prancing Horse’s reserve driver for the next season. In the meantime, though, he will keep being the official driver for Haas.
The German tells Sky Sport Germany that he will not let this distract him from his main goal, to do the maximum for Haas.
Happy Birthday, Dad❤️

Days like these were important to my growing passion for Motorsport, and still affect it to this day. I am grateful for all the experiences you have given me and I’m excited to be making new ones in the future. pic.twitter.com/aivNP2jlyK
"It would be nice to sit in a Ferrari one day, but my main focus is clearly on Haas, - he reveals - Nevertheless, if they need support, of course I'm there. My goal is to be as far ahead as possible with Haas."
The German is ready to step in the red car, though, if the circumstances will require it, even if he prefers to mentally remain in the present, preparing for what he has to do right now, with Haas.
"What happens in the future remains to be seen. Hopefully I can show myself well at Haas, then it will go in the right direction," – he states.
He then focuses on the new regulations that will come in on the next season. He says that he knows that all the drivers will have to adjust their driving style. Nevertheless, he is confident he will adapt quickly. “I know how the car has developed compared to last year, - he explains – So from my experience last year, I know how to approach corners to get through quickly. I can prepare myself mentally for that.”
“The car will be stiffer; it will be jerkier for us drivers to drive. This will change the driving style a lot. You have to get used to that again,” – he adds up.
Moreover, Schumacher feels like he has some advantages, due to his recent experience in Formula 2.
"I already changed from 13- to 18-inch tyres once in Formula 2. I know what to expect,” - he reveals. Talking about the zero preparation the teams had, he adds: - "Hopefully we'll have a bit of a head start because we started earlier with the changeover and preparation."
