F1 | 2022 honor list names Daniel Ricciardo a Member of the Order of Australia
After a complicated first year with McLaren and a memorable win at the Italian GP in Monza, Ricciardo was appointed as a national Australian "Member of the Order".
Daniel Ricciardo has been elected a Member of the Order of Australia as part of the 2022 Australia Day Honors for “significant service to motorsport as a competitor and ambassador to the community”.
The Aussie shares the nomination on this national honor with fellow country-athletes like wheelchair tennis player Dylan Alcott and Tokyo 2020 gold medallist swimmer Emma McKeon as a few of the 1,040 Australians on the Honours List for this year.

The 32-year-old, in spite of a difficult first Formula 1 season with McLaren, achieved a first victory for the Woking-based team since 2012 and his 8th from his F1 career; it was his since the Monaco GP of 2018.
It's worth saying that this honor, which is reserved for “service in a particular locality or field of activity or to a particular group” is different from the Medal of the Order of Australia, which is “for service worthy of particular recognition.”
Altogether with the former Red Bull Racing driver, there was another seven motorsports-related recognition with names such as Terence Bracken, Leslie Power, and Ian Tate, who are all now appointed officially with ‘AM’ as an official title.
As the F1 season peeks out the horizon for a new start in the 2022 championship and regulation changes, McLaren is preparing for hitting the track as the new challenger, the MCL36 is fired up and ready to aim for another strong fight for the top places of the constructors’ standings at the pinnacle of motorsport.
