The Honda-powered team saw one of its best results today, as their Japanese driver, Yuki Tsunoda, takes to Faenza some solid points with his P4 ending, including a last-lap pass on Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes.

The Italian team surprised with its incredible pace, already during the Free Practice session, and their pace was turned into a solid result, by Tsunoda and his team-mate Pierre Gasly, who respectively achieved P4 and P5 in today’s Abu Dhabi GP, in Yas Marina circuit.

Tsunoda was in good shape the whole weekend and gained today his best result of this season, but most of all his rookie season in the biggest series.

Soon after the race, Yuki Tsunoda commented: “I’m very happy. That’s a very good result to end the season with. Overall, this weekend, car felt great, but I couldn’t imagine my result would have been that, and especially that our pace would be strong like that also during the race”.

Tsunoda ended today his first season in F1 with AlphaTauri and has the seat confirmed again for next season. In his post-race interviews, he also commented who he felt during the whole season with the Italian team: ”It is incredible for me to finish the season with this high result. It was a very long journey for me to get back to this point , but I completely rebuilt my self-confidence, and it’s amazing to end the chapter I written this season with this result”.

The Japanese, also congratulated fellow Red Bull man Max Verstappen, for his first World Championship: “Big congratulations to Max. It was a very hard battle the whole season, and I think today he deserved it. I want to thank him also because he gave this big result to Honda, as today it’s its last day in F1.”
