F1 | Abu Dhabi GP | Guenther Steiner on the end of a difficult season, “I´m quite impressed with how the guys kept going.”
It´s the final race of the most difficult season for Haas.
Haas had the most difficult year in F1. With a car that was not developed during the season the team had to fight all the way through. With only one race to go, Mick Schumacher´s two Q2 appearances are the best results the team has had along the season so far.
However, team principal Guenther Steiner still can see the positive side of the season and that was the development of their two rookie drivers, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin "Well, there's a positive in that it was our last Saturday of the year qualifying the VF-21. It's been a tough year being aware of the limitations of the VF-21 pace-wise, but that hasn't deterred Mick and Nikita from pushing each time out – they went for it once again tonight. The team has worked hard all season long to see what we can get, and tomorrow's final race will be no difference. We'll seek opportunities and see how the race plays out. After that, it's all eyes on 2022."
MotorLat had access to an online media session with the team principal where he talked about the year of learning for his team “I think we made a lot of progress during the year with both of them that´s a good thing. It was an experience that is still not finished. We have a race tomorrow anything can happen. It´s not finished yet.”
The team´s fighting spirit is the quality that Steiner praised the most and what made them close the gap to their closest competitors. “I´m quite impressed how the guys kept on going…there was never a giving up we knew where we would end up they always kept fighting even if they were tenths behind they tried to make it half a tenth.”
