F1 | Saudi Arabian GP | Gasly “super happy” to beat target of 100 points
AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly has expressed his happiness in having reached his goal of scoring 100 points this season, having reached the milestone with an impressive P6 finish
In what can only be described as a messy first outing at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit for F1, a stellar drive from Pierre Gasly in which he kept his AlphaTauri away from the numerous incidents and out of the barriers netted him yet another impressive P6 finish.
The young Frenchman has put together a fantastic season so far in 2021 with only one race left to run, and following today's result, he confirms he has reached a milestone which he set for himself; 100 points in a season. His impressive form sees him sit P9 in the drivers’ championship, comfortably ahead of Fernando Alonso behind.

“Super happy, super happy,” Gasly said. “Another top six for us, and we finished in front of both Ferraris, so pretty incredible. Also means we achieved 100 points in the season on my side, which was the high target for the year. So really happy with that and happy for the team.”
Gasly confirmed it was a difficult race due to a lack of straight-line speed in comparison to the cars around him. He was impressed however, by the pace of his AlphaTauri in the corners.
“It was hard. We need to analyse a bit more because we were quite a lot slower in the straights compared to our main rivals. I think in the corners we were actually quite competitive,” he said.
“Different to Qatar but ultimately we were fast. We managed to catch Daniel [Ricciardo] in the end although we didn’t have the pace for the Alpine. They seem to have found something towards the end of the year. We will review but objectively it’s a P6 and we have to be really pleased with that.”
