F1 | Saudi Arabian GP | A happy Pierre Gasly after Qualifying: “It’s good to be in the first six positions”
After a very consistent Friday, the Alphatauri Frenchman, took home a solid P6 for tomorrow’s race in Jeddah.
It was another strong Saturday for AlphaTauri as Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda made Q3 once again. Gasly starts in P6 for Sunday's race as he seeks to grab a good race result following a terrible race for himself and the team in Qatar when they fell back through the field and lost 25 points to Alpine.
Although he gained a good position for tomorrow’s race, the Frenchman couldn’t avoid the fact that this was a very hard session. Gasly commented soon after quali ended: “It was very very good to qualify among the first six. But I can’t avoid the fact that today was a little bit more difficult. I didn’t feel very comfortable in the car and I struggled with balance for the whole time of the session”.
Pierre Gasly missed P5 [where the Mexican Sergio Perez will start the race from], by just 2 milliseconds. He said:” It is frustrating that I didn’t catch P5 by just 2 millisecond, but in the end I’m happy with my work and the lap I did. It is a good position for the start tomorrow and I will try to take home some points”.
On what he expect from his race tomorrow: “We expect it to be not an easy one for us tomorrow, but it can’t be worse than Qatar,” [where he dropped from P2 and finished his race in P11], “There it was really painful. I expect tomorrow to be slightly better but still we’ll have to fight, clearly, with the cars around us.”
