F1 | Robert Shwartzman to take part in the young driver test with Haas in Abu Dhabi
The Russian F2 driver will have the chance to try Haas, testing for them in Abu Dhabi
Robert Shwartzman is ready to try his speed in Formula 1. The Russian Formula 2 driver has the occasion to drive a F1 single-seater during the Abu Dhabi test, with Haas. In this way, he will improve as a driver and learn a lot, as he points out.
“First of all I would like to thank Haas F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari Driver Academy for this great opportunity, - stated Robert Shwartzman, when talking about this great chance . - This will be my first test with Haas F1 Team and I'm really looking forward to getting to know a new team, environment and also to learn as much as possible from them. Having the chance to drive for another F1 team is just incredible and I can't wait to work with everyone.”
This opportunity is a tasty one for the American team too, though. Haas will indeed use it to test a new driver, young and fast, and experiment with him their car before working even harder for the following season, in order to get more satisfying results. Moreover, this will be well – considered by Ferrari, who set an interested eye on the Russian taking him in their program since 2017.

“We're looking forward to testing with Robert at Yas Marina in December. – Haas’ team principal Gunther Steiner pointed out – He's obviously highly rated by Ferrari – having been part of their driver program since the end of 2017. His ability is clearly in evidence when you look at his performances over the last few seasons – most notably his rookie campaign in Formula 2 last year – competing against the likes of our own two drivers Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. We are pleased to be able to give Robert an outing in a Formula 1 car and we look forward to working with him in Abu Dhabi.”
