Not the result Valtteri Bottas was hoping for at the Sao Paulo GP today. The Mercedes driver after taking pole yesterday, did not have his best start and this made possible to Verstappen to overtake him in the first corner. Perez also got him at T4 as the Finn ran wide.

In fact he admitted: “The start was pretty tricky. I’m disappointed for losing my position to Max. Pace was pretty good; I didn’t think I was going to make a two stops race, but the team preferred another strategy”. He also added: “to be honest I think we could have made a one stop race.

Today we’ve seen a very great team work from both Mercedes drivers as Bottas let Hamilton through when they ran P3 and P4. Hamilton appreciated his gesture since this helped him with the drivers championship.

Bottas also commented the job Hamilton was able to do in these two days: “Lewis made a marvellous job today. He won an outstanding race.

After dropping to P4, he benefitted from a VSC to pick up debris. With Perez already having pitted under green flag conditions, it handed him a podium spot.

"For once Virtual safety car helped me and made me pass Perez. We took home some important points today.”
