Since 2018, Williams F1 have been going through tough times, each year scoring less points and finishing the 2020 season in last place with 0 points. After almost two years of drought, both Williams drivers, Nicholas Latifi and George Russell, scored points in the same race at the Hungarian GP. In the last 5 races, Williams has scored in 4 of them, even Russell got a podium at the controversial Belgian GP.

In an interview, Jost Capito was asked about the good turn the team has taken, he said:  

"I wouldn't say it's a sudden.”

"I think it's a continuous improvement of how to work.”

Earlier this season Capito told the press they were planning to change the structure inside the team, how they communicate with the different areas and who they report to.

"We changed our organisation, we changed communications, we changed responsibilities, and we're working much more as a team.”

"We also changed the strategy, how we approach the race event. We also got a bit more proactive and aggressive, and not just defensive.”

"I think we put more pride in the operation, and said we could do things differently."

At the moment, Latifi is sitting in 16th place in the drivers championship with 7 points, just below his teammate Russell who has scored 16 points.

"If you have the ninth-fastest car, you can try things differently." 

"And not be always on the back foot and try to conserve what you have.”

"Try something different that others might not be able to try because they are up front, and for them it would be risky.”

"I think a couple of times, we've taken the risk with the tyre choice for the weather, and it worked out. I think it shows that the team is working better as an overall team on communication.”

"I'm surprised how much that can make the car faster without actually improving the car."
