F1 | Dutch GP | Valtteri Bottas is hoping ‘the start and strategy will provide opportunities’ for gaining positions during the grand prix
Valtteri Bottas who headed into the Dutch GP at Zandvoort with numerous rumors surrounding his future in F1 is hoping for a great race with trying take every opportunity at the start and during the pitstops
Like Friday the Qualifying session was also interrupted by many red flags but there wasn’t a single one during the session which mattered the most. i.e., Q3. Bottas who is fighting for his seat at Mercedes AMG F1 team, tried to give his maximum during Qualifying by going third fastest and three-tenths separated him from the pole position.
When asked he highlighted that if not for the mistake in final sector, he might have done a better lap and would have been a bit closer to Max and Lewis.
“We’re still lacking a little bit in the first sector, particularly through Turns 2 and 3. My last lap in Q3 wasn’t the best, I was up on my time until turn 11 but then got a bit too greedy and braked too late but we have two cars in the top three and that’s important, so it’s all to play for and we’ll be on the attack tomorrow.,” said Bottas in post-qualifying media debrief.
Furthermore, as Zandvoort is a narrow track and overtaking will be very difficult Bottas hopes race start and strategy will provide with opportunities.
“It’s a hard track to overtake on but the start and strategy will provide opportunities, so I’m sure we will still see a great race.”
“That was a fun Qualifying session. It’s a great track to drive, especially in the middle sector where it is so fast, and also the banked corners. There’s a really nice atmosphere here, too. The car has been feeling good, but Red Bull were just a bit out of reach today,”added Valtteri Bottas.
💬 "A big thank you to the Dutch fans. We haven’t seen a crowd like this in a while so hopefully we put on a good show for them tomorrow."
