Following the polemic involving Sebastian Vettel, Aston Martin and the FIA after an exciting Hungarian GP before heading to summer break, the British team was sure of making use of all the tools at their reach to try and change the stewards’ final decision of taking car No.5 out of all race results and so proceeded to immediately express their intention to appeal and have their right of review.

However, earlier this week it was announced that Aston Martin’s right of review was dismissed, the reason was that "Aston Martin would have had to present facts that actually more than 1 litre of fuel was remaining. The explanation why this requirement could not be met is not relevant to the decision as to whether a breach of the regulations has occurred."

An option was left for the British Green Racing Team, as its initial procedure of appeal could still be ongoing, with it being a totally different process, separated from the right of review. “we will now consider our position in respect of the full appeal process." Otmar Szafnauer said on Monday.

UPDATE: The FIA has denied Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team's petition for right of review of 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix disqualification.

The team is now considering its position in respect of its outstanding appeal.

As it is now early Thursday, Aston Martin reconsidered going through the process and has finally announced that the team withdraws from the appeal process: "Having considered our position and having noted the FIA stewards’ verdict that there was clear new evidence of a fuel system failure, we have nonetheless withdrawn our appeal on the basis that we believe doing so outweighs the benefits of it being heard," said the statement on Twitter.

After a hard-fought race in the heat of Hungary, Sebastian Vettel found his way and was able to finish P2 in what resulted as Esteban Ocon’s Alpine first-ever win on the category.

When the podium celebrations finished and the champagne stopped flying, Vettel was not even done with media duties when a disqualification rumor was beginning to do the rounds.

“Under the technical regulations, competitors must ensure that a 1.0 litre sample of fuel may be taken from the car at any time during the event – however it was only possible to take 0.3 litres from Vettel’s Aston Martin after Sunday’s race.”  Stays now as the final verdict despite Aston Martin’s efforts.

With the final decision, the Hungarian GP results are now officially closed and Vettel’s disqualification leaves Ferrari tied with McLaren in P3 on the constructor’s championship thanks to the promotion of Carlos Sainz up to 3^rd place. It also means Lewis Hamilton scored 18 points achieving 2^nd place and is now leading the championship by 8 points considering Max Verstappen’s final P9 in Hungary. Sebastian Vettel stays 12^th on the standings as Aston Martin maintains 7^th.
