Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton crashed into each other in Silverstone and some hard words kept flowing even after the end of it.

During the first laps of the British Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver was starting in pole and he was keeping the lead but Lewis Hamilton was eager to catch a win at his home race and pushed too hard, missing the correct apex of the curve and braking too late. The Dutchman suffered a strong collision with his rival and he was taken to the hospital to check his health conditions.

The manoeuvre costed to the Briton a 10-second penalty, but that did not avoided him to go and win the race, reducing the difference with the Red Bull driver, who is still leading the Championship Standing, to only 8 eight points.

Christian Horner looked furious after the collision, though, and called Hamilton’s move as “dirty driving

As for Verstappen, he looked painful, as he crashed against the tyres’ wall with a 51G force but once he came back, luckily unharmed, the Dutch shared a strong message through social media.

“Very disappointed with being taken out like this,”– he tweeted.

The penalty given does not help us and doesn’t do justice to the dangerous move Lewis made on track. Watching the celebrations while still in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behaviour but we move on.”

It is not easy to give judgement, because, at the end of the day, Hamilton was only celebrating a win and he has always shown a great respect and sportsmanship towards everybody. On the other hand, Verstappen suffered a strong accident, a potentially harmful one so it is fully understandable that he felt angry and disappointed.

The thing that matters the most at the end of the Silverstone Grand Prix is that the Dutchman is safe and sound.
