F1 | Spanish GP | Carlos Sainz feeling great about qualifying session
Carlos Sainz talla about his good feeling of the quali sessions amd good starting poont from the grid.
After what has been Scuderia Ferrari’s best qualifying session of the current season, Carlos Sainz will start from P6 on the grid, two places behind his Monegasque teammate Charles Leclerc.
The Spaniard felt like it was a good qualifying session for the whole team, and it indeed translated into his performance.
“On a track where car balance and car performance in cornering are important and the SF21, from my side I had a strong qualifying all the way through and I felt I could push the car,” declared Sainz.
Sainz pushed his highly rated stablemate hard in qualifying once again. He was quicker in Q2 and on the first runs of Q3, but was ultimately pipped by Leclerc in the end.
“I managed to go through Q1 with only one set and a couple of strong laps in Q2 put us through to the top 10. After a decent first run in Q3, I was looking forward to improving my lap time in the last attempt but due to small details I didn’t quite manage to nail it,” he added.
“There are lots of positives to take from today and we are in a good position to fight tomorrow in the race. Let’s go!”
The whole team is aiming to repeat a great performance in tomorrow's race and getting the most out of the SF21.
