With a strong performance at last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix, the Japanese youngster established himelf as a potential star.

He set the second fastest time in Q1 and finished ninth in the race after making a great overtaking attempt on Lance Stroll of Aston Martin on the final lap.

Tusnoda's speed and the buzz around him have already prompted speculation that he might be in line to join Red Bull's main squad in 2022.

Despite clearly believing in Tsunoda's future, Red Bull's motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has cautioned against such speculation.

Marko is well aware that Daniil Kvyat, Pierre Gasly, and Alex Albon all struggled to achieve their full potential after being promoted to Red Bull, and there is a feeling that things should not be rushed at this time.

Marko praised Tsunoda's effect in an exclusive interview with Formel1.de, but said Red Bull was prepared to wait.

According to Marko about Tsunoda, "The way he goes about it, the way he makes the car fly [is fantastic], He's also charismatic, funny guy. We are happy to have him."

When asked about the prospect for a 2022 drive at Red Bull, his reply, "We've had the first of 23 races, so let's see how things develop."

To continue, "We have an incredible rough diamond in Yuki. We're not going to burn him. We will look at the development and then make our decisions in a timely manner.”

Sergio Perez, who is currently on a one-year contract to drive for Red Bull this season, will suffer if Tsunoda switched to Red Bull.

After being thrown out of qualifying in Q2, the Mexican had a mixed weekend in Bahrain, finishing fifth after recovering well in the race.

Marko said that he had no reservations about Perez's race speed, but that the key for him now was to put together a qualifying lap.

Marko says, "The race speed is on the same level as Verstappen, When he was in free air, he set the same times, so, so far, so good. Unfortunately, it wasn't like that in qualifying

To add, "The positive thing was that he lost most of his time in one turn, Turn 1. Already during testing, in sector three, he was faster than Max on average. The only issue is: you have to get the lap together.

To conclude, "But we are convinced that he will get much closer to Max in qualifying as well.”
