F1 l Bahrain GP | Bottas: “We can definitely still fight for the win”
Bottas who will start the race from second row if the grid considers with its two cars in front, Mercedes has an advantage over Redbull
After struggling to find pace and match rival team Red Bull during the Friday sessions Mercedes was able to close the gap to Max Verstappen but not enough to steal pole from the Austrian based team. Even though Redbull is on pole but Finnish driver Bottas considers Mercedes has an advantage of two cars to one of Red bull.
‘’We have two cars to battle against one Red Bull tomorrow. We have Two cars in the top three so we can definitely still fight for the Win, ’’ said Finn during the post Qualifying media debrief.
Furthermore, Bottas thinks Mercedes has made a step forward coming into Bahrain GP from winter Testing and closed the gap to Red bull.
VALTTERI: "The session this morning wasn't easy and we had a couple of issues.

This evening was a bit better, but we're not quite where we want to be - hopefully we can improve a little for tomorrow"#BahrainGP 🇧🇭 #F1 pic.twitter.com/DOrYrIyf0P
‘’At least we are closer to Red Bull than we were in testing.RedBull seem to have more stability, particularly in the wind.’’
With the slipstream and overtaking opportunities starting from third isn’t end of the world for Bottas and he thinks the team can still win. The only thing which put him on back foot during Qualifying was exra set of softs he used in Q1 making him short of one set for Q3.
‘’I had to use two sets of tyres in Q1 so I only had one new set for Q3 which put me at a disadvantage. But starting from third at this track isn’t bad so I’m looking forward to it.’’
