Williams Racing has confirmed that W Series champion Jamie Chadwick will return to the Grove-based team as a development driver for 2021.

Chadwick who spent that last season in Formula Regional with PREMA Powerteam after the cancellation of the W Series season will continue her presence in the Williams garage during Grand Prix weekends as well as continued testing in Williams's simulator which the team says will be increased this season.

Williams team principal Simon Roberts who succeded Claire Williams as team principal after the Italian Grand Prix said he was thrilled with the return of Chadwick who he says is a great ambassador for female sport as well as being a good team player in the factory.

“We are delighted that Jamie will continue as a Development Driver for the team. Not only is she a great female ambassador for the sport and plays an integral part in promoting women in motorsport, but her work in the simulator and behind the scenes at Grove is also hugely valuable. Jamie’s determination and drive to do more, as well as push the boundaries, is something we admire at Williams and we are all looking forward to the year ahead with Jamie as part of the team.” 

Chadwick who will combine her duties in W Series with a season in the new Extreme E series proclaimed that she was delighted to be back at Williams for 2021.

“I have absolutely loved my time with Williams so far and could not be more delighted to continue working with the team in my role as Development Driver. I feel I am improving as a driver all the time, and my time spent in the simulator this coming season will prove to be invaluable. I look forward to fully immersing myself at Williams once again this year.”

Williams has yet to confirm whether Jack Aitken or Dan Ticktum will be partnering with Chadwick as development drivers at Williams for 2021.
