Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc have made their first public appearance together at the team's official launch which was held virtually.

The pairing which is Ferrari's youngest since 1968 talked of the importance of getting the team back to the top of Formula 1 when answering fan questions inside the office of the team's founder Enzo Ferrari.

Leclerc is cautiously optimistic that Ferrari's fortunes will hopefully improve with the 2021 car.

"We'll see when we have a new project for the car; it's always very difficult to know how it's going to go until you try it out, I think with all of the meetings we've had since the beginning of the year more or less we know that there are some positive things in the car, a huge amount of work has gone into it to improve it after other people have done their work we'll see how it goes on track."

Newboy Sainz Jr who is the first Spaniard to race for the Scuderia since Fernando Alonso talked of his excitement at wearing red for the first time and the achievement of being signed by the team at the age of twenty-six.

"The first time you properly wear red is the day you look in the mirror and you say this was the day I will never forget even when I am eighty or ninety years old!".

Sainz Jr has put his faith in the Scuderia for him to achieve his goal of being World Champion and to end Ferrari's fourteen-year World Championship drought with the Spaniard also setting a goal of being World Champion in five years

"My target is to be World Champion in five years, I do believe that Ferrari is the best place to achieve that, I think I am in the right place at the right time and we just need a little bit of time to make that happen."

Team boss Mattia Binotto has fired a warning shot at the team that 2021 must see the team improve in what is the final year of the current regulations before the sport dramatically changes for 2022.

"2021 is going to be a very important year, full of challenges, first of all, the SF21 which has inherited much from its predecessor and then the budget cap for the first time we have a limit on spending, we must face these challenges with determination, in addition, the 2022 car must be planned from scratch since it's new in its design and its technical features."

"The path that lies before us is long and full of obstacles, it's entirely possible that there will be setbacks and mistakes, the important thing for us is that any weak spot becomes an opportunity for our team to improve."

Ferrari will launch the new SF21 on March 10th.
