The sun was shining on Imola today, and so were AlphaTauri's drivers, Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda.
Two very young drivers, willing to do good during this upcoming season, hit the track this morning for the shakedown of the brand new AlpaTauri02.

Tsunoda, is carrying out an intensive test program that started yesterday and will end tomorrow behind the steering wheel of the Toro Rosso STR14.

Along with the Japanese driver, Pierre Gasly tried their new car the AT02 today, getting back on track after recovering from Covid-19, and also having fun doing some donuts.

The Faenza team wants to continue doing well, improving the already fantastic results obtained during the last 2020 season, with the amazing fourth place achieved by Daniil Kvyat in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and the sensational win in Monza for Pierre Gasly.
With this in mind, the "filming day" scheduled for today represented a small advantage to test the car in view of the pre-season tests that will be held in Bahrain, from 12 to 14 March.

The new single-seater curated by Jody Eggington, Race & Design Engineer and now Alpha Tauri Technical Director, carried out at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit the 100 km authorized by the International Federation, using Pirelli demo tires.
In this way, making the most of the few glimmers of the regulation, the engineers and technicians of the Faenza car will be able to analyze some data related to the new AT02.

The vehicle, that weighs about 752 kg, named after the second season in F1 for the renamed team, was presented last February 19th:

It is very similar to the last season's car, as Scuderia Alpha Tauri announced "It's an evolution of the AT01, with the same chassis, as set out in the 2021 regulations. We concentrated on aerodynamic development and the suspensions, as well as improving the integration of the power unit, gearbox and electronic system".

"The gearbox and rear suspension come from last year's RedBull Racing car, while we have completely redesigned the front suspension".

It looks a bit different due to the inverted colours of the livery (more blue and a little bit less white), a narrower nose and the aforementioned interventions in the front suspension.

The team looks thrilled with the new car, and there's a lot of expectation on the Honda RA621H engine which is said to be very good: the improvements made by the Japanese technician's concern both the 6-cylinder turbo and the hybrid system.
