Mercedes-Benz has fired up the power unit that will go inside its 2021 challenger.

Seven-time reigning World Champions Mercedes Benz AMG Formula 1 team have released the sound of the power unit that will go inside the team's new W12.

The Brackley-based team, who have won every drivers and constructor's championships since 2014, will be hoping that this season produces an unprecedented eighth consecutive Constructors' title in a row. It would see them go up to equal third with McLaren for most Constructors' championships as they look to remain unbeaten in the V6 era.

Mercedes' line-up will stay the same for a fourth consecutive year with Lewis Hamilton is once again back as the team's lead driver after a contract was finally signed between Hamilton and Mercedes ten days ago. The British driver is chasing more history in 2021. After equalling Michael Schumacher's seven Drivers' titles record and claiming the honour of most wins in the history of the sport, Hamilton is going for a record-breaking eighth championship in the upcoming season. 

Hamilton will be partnered by Finland's Valtteri Bottas who starts his fifth season with the team in what could be his last chance of becoming World Champion, with both men out of contract at the culmination of the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi. 

The W12 will be shown to the world for the first time on the 2nd of March.
