Today Alpine F1 Team released an official statement on his conditions. The Spaniard remained under observation overnight but today the doctors found a fracture in his upper jaw. The Bern staff immediately proceeded to do a corrective operation.

He is – according Alpine F1 Team – already over with it and he is feeling fine as the operation was successful and the medical team is satisfied with the result. How will the situation proceed from now on?

The driver will have to remain under observation in the hospital for further 48 hours, the time the doctors need to keep monitoring him and see how he reacts to the accident, both for the operation and for post-traumatic events that could take place.

After these two days, the Spanish driver will need a few days of complete rest. After that, Alpine F1 Team was told by the doctors that Fernando should be fine enough to resume his training and gradually go back in shape. There are good news and hopes that we could all see him ready on the Bahrain grid to take part at the 2021 season, as previously planned.

His team informed that it will release press statements when and if the situation will require them, so we will wait up for Fernando to come back stronger than before. He’s always fast, so we expect his recovery to be as speedy as him… and not only for the season, but for him.
