F1 | AlphaTauri to unveil the AT02 on the 19th of February
AlphaTauri will reveal their new package in 15 days' time.
2020 was a year to remember for the rebranded AlphaTauri team as Pierre Gasly took a sensational victory for the team at the Italian Grand Prix team in the AT01; it was only second their second ever win after Sebastian Vettel also took victory for them at Monza back in 2008 when they were called Toro Rosso.
Last year was also the first time they scored more than 100 points in a season as they ended up finishing the campaign with 107 points. As well as Gasly’s win, three other top 6 finishes for the Frenchman and Daniil Kvyat’s P4 were the other standout moments for the Faenza-based team. Yet, it was only good enough for 7th in the standings in an ultra-competitive 2020.
On their social media channels today, they revealed the date for their new challenger: the AT02 will be shown to the world on Friday the 19th of February. They’re the fourth team to officially confirm their launch date.
Rising Japanese star Yuki Tsunoda will join Gasly at the team for 2021 after he got the nod over Daniil Kvyat.
Tsunoda had an extremely impressive 2020 Formula 2 campaign as he finished P3 in the standings; four wins and three saw him finish a single point behind Callum Ilott and 15 points adrift of champion Mick Schumacher. Since his season ended, Tsunoda has done multiple days of private testing in old machinery at Imola and Misano as he gets up to speed ahead of his first year in F1.

With Gasly and Kvyat scoring podiums in 2019 and the Frenchman taking that memorable win at Monza last year, AlphaTauri will be hoping to collect a couple of more trophies in the upcoming season as they enter their last year with Honda power.
it's time to mark your calendars! ✌️
