F1 | Lando Norris: "Ricciardo brings new perspectives"
In an interview with Motorsport.com, Lando Norris talked about how McLaren will be fueled by Daniel Ricciardo's experience, and how their comparative teammate to teammate will be.
The 2020 season brought with it one of the most marked “silly seasons” in terms of driver-market in F1, which demonstrated the most genuine part of the category “pinnacle of motorsport” and will provide with so many new things for the upcoming 2021 season. Within expectations, the McLaren line-up was finally left with the young Lando Norris maintaining the good work and the incorporation of the experience of Daniel Ricciardo.
"It's going to be very good," Norris told Motorsport.com. "He [Ricciardo] is going to give a different perspective on a lot of things.
Lando also highlighted the similarities he can find in the Australian's feedback, compared to what Carlos Sainz did as they both left Renault before driving for McLaren.
"I'm sure some comments are going to be similar to Carlos, because Carlos drove the Renault, and probably a lot of characteristics are similar. A lot of things Carlos talked about sometimes were when he drove a Renault, things were like this, and the team acted like this and different circumstances. A lot of knowledge that drivers have, and something that I learned from Carlos, is knowledge of how he worked with other teams.”

However, despite the similarities, Norris recognizes the broader field of experience Daniel Ricciardo has, compared to the Spanish driver, having driven for Red Bull and being a multiple race winner.
"With Daniel, working with Red Bull a bit more and knowing how to win races and how a team wins races and the car he needs for that. I think that's something Carlos doesn't have.
"That'll be very good for when Daniel comes in, giving those fresh ideas and helping the team move forward. I think it's very good. It's nice for me to work with someone different and learn some things," Norris said.
After complimenting his new teammate, Lando assured that despite having just named Ricciardo’s achievements and experience in the category, it is now a more interesting challenge to measure and compare the performance in both drivers.
"But also to go up against a driver who has won races and people say is one of the best on the grid, it's a good chance for me to compare myself against him, and just work with him as a race winner."
