F1 | Callum Ilott confirmed as Ferrari test driver for 2021
The Ferrari Academy Driver will take up a test role with the Scuderia next year.
2020 FIA Formula 2 runner-up Callum Ilott is going to be at Ferrari next year as the iconic Italian team confirmed his role as test driver today.
The Brit scored 5 poles and 3 wins as he lost out on the championship by 14 points to Mick Schumacher. Despite a strong year in F1’s Feeder Series, he failed to get a spot at Alfa Romeo or Haas.
Nonetheless, this position gives him the opportunity to impress Ferrari as they could potentially place him at one of their customer teams in 2022. Ilott is ‘’very pleased’’ to be working with the Maranello-based team next year.
"I am very pleased to be joining Scuderia Ferrari as its test driver from next year,’’ said Ilott.
I look forward to contributing to the work the team does on and off track, and to all of the new things I can learn by taking on this exciting new challenge. I will give my all to do a good job and gain as much experience as possible to continue making progress as a driver.
I would like to thank the Ferrari Driver Academy and Scuderia Ferrari for this great opportunity and their support. It has been an honour to be part of their programme for the past three years and I am pleased to continue our journey together."

As well as that news, Ilott got an opportunity to test the Alfa Romeo C39 at the post-season event in Abu Dhabi. He finished in 8th after putting 93 laps on the board during the day.
“It’s been an amazing day, driving an incredible car,” he said.
“From my personal point of view, I’ve really enjoyed it: it took a lot of focus to keep performing at this level, in such a powerful car, but it’s been really good and I hope to get more opportunities to drive this car in the future.”
Big thank you to @alfaromeoracing for the amazing day in this awesome machine ☺️ lots of laps done and most importantly got through our program with no issues ☑️ pic.twitter.com/uD4taXsqcb
