F1 | BREAKING: Saudi Arabia to host a night race next year
Formula 1 confirms that in 2021 the Saudi Arabian race will be a night one while there is a provisional calendar that is taking shape.
The 2020 season is been a crazy one, full of last-minutes addictions and detractions to the original schedule, in favour of a season which could have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The crowd did appreciate the change, even if almost nobody was able to be there on the standings, as many events were closed-doors ones.
2021 is lining up not very differently though. Formula 1 just announced that next year the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be held by night.
It will be a new addiction to the normal schedule and it could be an interesting one. Jeddah will host a street race and the fall of the night will add a catchy atmosphere to an event that is not getting many approvals for the fans. The Country is preparing a new purpose-built track at Quiddiay to race on in 2023. Some organizations are complaining about this decision for the importance that is – not- given there to human rights and many fans are tweeting they don’t like the idea. On the other hand, 2021 will be the last season to try new solutions before the regulations change in 2022 and everybody expect another Mercedes-Hamilton domination.
This is the first official news coming for 2021 which helps us imagine how the new calendar will look like. Autosport thinks that the races could actually be 23, as F1 organizations have planned. The season would obviously start in Melbourne once again on March 21. Along with annual meetings just like Montecarlo, Barcelona, Silverstone, Spa and Monza there will be the baptism of Hanoi and the comeback of Zandvoort we were longing for. Another addiction, as said, will be Saudi Arabia. Time to leave this dark year at our back and dive into 2021, hoping to come back to the track we are missing so badly.
