F1 | GP Imola | "Leader" Sainz gains Binotto’s admiration
The Spaniard is showing off his strong personality, approving new formats and attracting compliments from is soon-to-be boss Mattia Binotto.
The current season of Formula 1 is really difficult and challenging on the drivers’ nerves. Due to the pandemic indeed, this season is shaping as it is taking place, taking old and new tracks again under this sport’s spotlight, just like Nurburgring, Portimao and Imola and taking away some other ones, like the Vietnamese Grand Prix or the Dutch one. The third “Italian GP”, correctly denominated “Emilia Romagna Grand Prix” is bringing a new format, a weekend of two days only.
Carlos Sainz Jr seems quite happy about this and brings on all the energy and positive vibe he has.
“I like a race weekend of two days – the Spaniard from Madrid said to “SoyMotor.com”- I honestly think that to us drivers and engineers it is given too much time to get used to the track, considering that we are the best drivers and engineers of the whole world. In the same way we have too many practice sessions after all the simulations we have. Maybe the weekend could turn into a more interesting one if we have less time to get used to the set-up and the drive”.
🍾 Italy = good memories!

The McLaren driver then explained his vision on racing. “I am a driver who likes to be fast in adapting to any situation and be the first one to settle down. I don’t know if this weekend the new format could help me as I am with the best 19 drivers of the world as well”- he added.
The Spaniard’s bold mood impressed his soon-to-be new boss in Ferrari in 2021 Mattia Binotto, who called him a “leader”, and Sainz agreed.
“I agree with Mattia – he stated- I am the first one who wants to arrive in Ferrari to help the team taking the right direction and I want to create a way with them and grow up as a driver. I really appreciate his words and I am aware he will give me the best possible car on the next season but I didn’t have any contact with Ferrari’s bosses or engineers yet”.
Sainz would be the second Formula 1 driver to come to Maranello but this time he is a young one. There is to hope that the Italians will improve and go back to the place they used to.
