George Russell and Nicholas Latifi have been officially confirmed as the two Williams drivers also for 2021. Actually, Russell and Latifi had been already confirmed last July, but the following change of ownership of the team led to think if Russell and Latifi were still sure of their seats.

Today, however, during the press conference ahead of the Imola GP, Williams team principal Simon Roberts told the media that Russell and Latifi will be without any doubt the drivers for the team also in 2021.

In the last months in particular the name of Sergio Perez began to circulate in the paddock for a possible seat next to Latifi, which would have meant that George Russell could have possibly been out of Formula 1 for 2021.

The statements of Roberts now confirm that those rumours were not true, and that the English driver as well as Nicholas Latifi will keep running for Williams also next season.

"I probably caused a bit of confusion last week, I'm sorry about that", Roberts said. "We didn't really want to comment on the driver position. But as George said, Claire [Williams] made the announcement earlier this year, nothing has changed. This is our driver line-up for this year and next year. We're very happy with them, and we look forward to working with them in a continued way".

Since now also Williams officially confirmed his drivers, it becomes increasingly difficult for Sergio Perez to find a seat for 2021. The only possible one could be the Red Bull one, next to Max Verstappen, but it's still not sure if Helmut Marko will decide to replace or not Alexander Albon.

Haas as well has not yet announced its line-up for next year, but it is expected to sign with Formula 2 racers Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher.
