After a fantastic drive in the feature race in Monza, Schumacher scored his first 25 points-win for the first time in 2020 and securing an extra 12 points from the sprint race and staying consistent in Mugello with 10 points from the feature race and 8 points from the sprint race.

Schumacher has an eight-point lead (161 points) over fellow Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott (153 points) in the championship, with 18 of the 24 races complete in this year's F2 championship. Schumacher's team mate Robert Shwartzman, who is also a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, dropped to fourth behind yesterday's sprint race winner Christian Lundgaard (Renault Sport Academy).  

Schumacher's 21-point lead over fourth place Shwartzman is very important as this means if Schumacher finishes in the top three in the championship he's been guaranteed a spot in Formula 1. 

The Ferrari Driver Academy has connections to Alfa Romeo in where Schumacher tested for last year. Also, Ferrari supplies Haas with power units as well. Both teams for the 2021 Formula 1 season have still yet to announce their driver line-ups. 

Following Sunday's F2 sprint race, Schumacher drove his father's Ferrari F2004 on a demonstration run, marking the team's 1000th World Championship start in a season.
