F1 | Italian GP | Bottas leads the way in FP1
The Finnish signs the fastest lap ahead of Hamilton and Albon. Detached the two Ferrari, only in eleventh and nineteenth position, with Leclerc ahead of Vettel
The first free practice session of the Italian GP has ended, reporting Valtteri Bottas to lead the way with the time of 1:20.703, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Alexander Albon.
Kvyat, Verstappen, Gasly, Perez, Norris, Ricciardo and Sainz are the drivers that complete the top ten.
It seems to be another difficult weekend for the Ferraris, because of the presence of many straights on the Monza track. The poor Ferrari power unit in this moment is clearly not so suitable to the track that indeed is called the temple of speed.
For sure, it will be a complete different race for Ferrari compared to the one of 2019, when Charles Leclerc won his second race in career after having kept behind Lewis Hamilton for more or less the whole GP in an breath-taking race.
Leclerc ended his session in eleventh position, while Vettel ended even in nineteenth position. After the debacle of Spa, Ferrari is awaited for another difficult race.
Good session for Alpha Tauri as well, that placed its cars in fourth and sixth position, with Kvyat ahead of Gasly.
The two Mercedes on the contrary show to be always in great shape with Valtteri Bottas for now faster than his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
At the minute 53 then Max Verstappen lost the control of his Red Bull, smashing against the barriers, causing the Red Flag and the momentary stop of the session.
An important rule established for both the free practice sessions and the qualifying is the obligation not to go beyond the track limits at the turn "Parabolica". Under penalty of cancellation of the lap time.
