Imagine waking up one morning comfortably knowing you have a 2022 contract and in a sudden turn of events, there is no room for you on the grid for a seat even for the upcoming 2021 season. Well, that is the predicament Racing Point’s Sergio Perez faces

Sergio Perez who drives for Racing Point or in other words “Pink Mercedes” is currently sitting eighth in the driver’s standings and recently placed fifth at the Spanish GP

When asked about his career in F1, he stated the following, “At the moment everything is looking as if we’re going to carry on with the team, so we’ll see…The feedback I’ve got form the team is we are going to carry on”. But how promising is Racing Point that they will actually keep their word. Rumours are circulating that Racing Point’s owner, Lawrence Stroll, is looking to buyout the driver’s contract in order to make way for Sebastian Vettel in what is said to be a $15 million contract. It seems that the Canadian owner seems to favour the German driver a lot, the only thing missing is Vettel signing the contract before Spa.

With the back-and-forth between multiple interviews with Perez saying, “I’m not making way either! I hope I’m not” and “We are going to carry on”. Let’s hope that Racing Point’s rumours are well – rumours and the driver is given the opportunity to keep his seat.
