Lewis Hamilton claims his 91st pole position, setting a record-breaking lap of 1'24''303 on home turf. The Briton extends his qualifying record at Silverstone, sealing a scorching 7th pole position at his home race. Valtteri Bottas will be joining his teammate on the front row, whereas Max Verstappen enjoyed a last-minute battle with Charles Leclerc for P3, with the Dutchman prevailing on the Ferrari driver by a mere tenth of a second. A pitlane incident might undermine Charles Leclerc’s chances of celebrating a positive qualifying session, as a potential unsafe release with Lance Stroll is going to be investigated after the session.

McLaren’s Lando Norris will open the third row in P5, with Carlos Sainz starting right behind him in 7th tomorrow. Lance Stroll saves the day for Racing Point, as he will start from the sixth slot on the grid. Renault’s Ricciardo qualified 8th ahead of Esteban Ocon and Sebastian Vettel, who is down in 10th after his final laptime was deleted.

Q2 was red flagged after Lewis Hamilton spun into the gravel at Luffield. Once the track was clear again, the session resumed for less than 9 minutes.

Valtteri Bottas topped Q2 as well, three tenths clear of teammate Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen, 1.129s off the pace, stands in 3rd once again. McLaren ramped up its game throughout Q2, with Carlos Sainz grabbing P4 just 0.005s slower than the Dutchman. Charles Leclerc defended himself in P5 ahead of the Renault duo (Ocon in sixth and Ricciardo in seventh). Both Ferraris managed to enter Q3, as Sebastian Vettel set the ninth fastest time behind Lando Norris. Mixed feelings at Racing Point, as Lance Stroll made it to Q3 on Mediums in P10 and Hulkenberg failed to improve, having to settle for P13.

Eliminated: Pierre Gasly, Alexander Albon, Nico Hulkenberg, Daniil Kvyat, George Russell.

The contention in Q1 was extremely tight, as fifteen drivers were enclosed within one second. Valtteri Bottas topped the first third of qualifying at Silverstone, having posted a 1’25’’801. The Finn managed to fend off teammate Lewis Hamilton by 0.099s, whereas Max Verstappen finished in 3rd (+0.314s). The Racing Point duo looked mighty with Lance Stroll in fourth ahead of an impressive Nico Hulkenberg by less than a tenth.

Pierre Gasly clocked the sixth best time, just 0.016s off Hulkenberg, while Esteban Ocon stands in 7th ahead of the two Ferraris. Alex Albon rounds up the Top-10 behind Leclerc, a little over 7 tenths off the pace.

Latifi spun at the end of Q1, bringing out yellow flags in Sector 2. Teammate George Russell made it to Q2 in P13, 42 thousandths behind McLaren’s own Carlos Sainz.
