F1 | Re(d)volution: how Maranello can be again on the top
Mattia Binotto is well aware of the gap to cover for getting again with Mercedes pace
Ferrari knows where it is. And knows where wants to be. At the top again. Just for proving that 90 years of history are not a casualty.
[...] it is certainly worse compared to expectations. [...] we were not expecting such a difficult situation
addressed to Motorsport.com Mattia Binotto: the Italian is perfectly aware that expecting the Rosse again in front rows isn't easy as wanted.
It will take a long time because it is not something that is addressed in a few weeks. So I think patience will be required
The regulations imposing the 'freezing' of the vehicles are certainly halting a complete revision and upgrade of the car:
Certainly not having full freedom will make our job more difficult. I think we can only understand how much we can close the gap when we have fully understood the reason why we are so slow. [...] So, we first will focus on trying to understand the car and where we can progress very soon
So, what could be the magical pill to eat (or swallow, giving the hard times Binotto is encountering with the management) to get the 2020 in better shape? Too much to do in too many areas, organization included:
With three races in a row, there are a couple of weeks before Silverstone and it will be important at Maranello to consider all the aspects of the car and the organisation: whatever it is we need to improve
Can they make it in time for the second-home race in Mugello, later in October? It could be a Red-evolution, at least for 2021.
