Sebastian Vettel has no seat for next year as Ferrari decided to get rid of the German's services at the end of the 2020 modified season due to the coronavirus. It was actually a piece of surprising news and a huge talking point when the prancing horse announced a new Spanish knight to join the team in 2021, which is Carlos Sainz Jr.

Vettel told the media that he was not ever given an offer from Ferrari in the first place “No offer was on the table.” he said that at the first press conference of the modified season opener in Austria.

“There was no sticking point. It was obviously a surprise to me when I got the call from Mattia when he told me that there was no further intention from the team to continue.

“We never got into any discussions, there was never an offer on the table and therefore, there was no sticking point,” said Vettel

Since then, some personnel in the paddock have chipped in with their words over Vettel's situation to different media publications, with some taking advantage of the tensions in the red camp.

Lately, Red Bull boss Christian Horner says the team has given a “definite NO” to Vettel. No chance to re-join Red Bull for the 2021 F1 season.

The answer from Red Bull boss and adviser, Helmut Marko, was an "immediate no" when Vettel alluded on Thursday that he would say "Yes" to the team he won his four world titles with if Red Bull offered him the chance.

“Probably the answer would be yes” if Red Bull offered him the chance to rejoin the team he won his four world titles with.

Despite speculation that Red Bull’s senior chiefs were exploring the possibility, Horner says the reunion will not be happening.

Nevertheless, 6-time world champion Hamilton is concerned about Vettel leaving the sport too soon  “If Seb was to stop before his time, I think that would be a shame,” said Hamilton, speaking in Thursday's press conference at the Red Bull Ring. “I think he's got a lot more to give to the sport, and a lot more to achieve.”

On the other hand, Max Verstappen who has a contract with Red Bull until 2023 never showed a refusal to Vettel joining Red Bull, he said: “I wouldn’t have a problem with Seb as a team-mate. But it’s not my decision. I never worked with Seb but normally it wouldn’t be a problem. Every driver wants to win.”

However, speaking to the media on Thursday in Austria, Vettel said he had not yet made up his mind about his future - and that “everything is an option at the moment”.

Horner added: “It’s unusual for a four-time world champ to be out of a drive at this point in the year.

“I guess he’s got a couple of choices available to him. I assume either Racing Point or a year out and evaluate the options in a year’s time.”

“I haven’t at this stage made a decision yet,” Vettel said about his 2021 decision.

The German driver doesn’t have a contract for next season.

“I’m not taking any pressure. We’ve all seen that Fernando is coming back which I think is good for F1 so we’ll see how he gets on."

"If you make the decision to close the door, you shouldn't do it so that you can hope to open it again sometime," said the Ferrari driver. "You have to be prepared to leave the door closed."
